Few shades of ગુ જ રા ત ...

It was the hottest summer of 2014.

I was literally bogged down of everything. Bogged down of the routine work, same old story of mountains, same old faces of friends, and that pointless, senseless and helpless struggle for the ultimate conviction.
The only respite that moment seemed Solitude, and the only place that flashed in my mind like a spotlight in the dark coliseum of  my cerebrum was ગુ જ રા ત.

A place I always craved to be part of since my childhood days, when traveling from Mumbai to Barmer in  Rajasthan. Always staring out of the window for hours and hours, lost in senile fantasies exciting out of my open eyed dreams, webbed by the vibrant culture, people on roads, the not so well arched out structures and dusty streets. I always wished some days of my life in one of these streets, a hot cup of tea with one of the local lads and offcourse, splendid evenings with someone even majestic. ;), with dhokla in one plate and undhiya in the other. I don't know why but I always felt this place connected to me, may be karmic.

Those 3 days. Tranquil.

Well, I have a lot, lot to share. But as we all know, these are the days of 20-20 and you gotta cash on it, to make the maximum.

Let me take you quickly through few shades of ગુ જ રા ત out of my super cam, not that entirely but two beautiful places I got to be to, Ahmedabad & Bharuch.

Kalpavriksha

कल्पवृक्ष is said to be a divine tree which fulfills all your wishes. A flawless carving in one of the magnificent jalis of Sidi Sayed Mosque.

Wall, I always craved for...

Like a pearl to an Oyster, is IIM to Ahmedabad

A quiet ecstasy

(In one of the streets of Ahmedabad)

અડાલજની વાવ

Adalaj step well was built in 1499 by Mohammed Begda for Queen Rani Roopba, wife of Veer Singh, the Vaghela ruler. The step well or Vav, as it is called in Gujarati, is intricately carved out and is five stories in depth. Once, mostly flanked in semi arid regions for basic water needs of drinking, washing and bathing.

Meet the Boss.

Yes, that's what his name is. Relaxing imperturbably on a less crowded evening near banks of mighty Narmada.

Sabarmati

Catching a calm & serene atmosphere in Sabarmati ashram. Though I could not find the three monkeys; Eat, sleep & watch is the mantra I caught here...

Pictorial excerpt from one of the paintings in Sabarmati Ashram

An eye candy view of Dear Mahatma enjoying the company of Indira. Magnetic!

One more from the ashram

I found this too unique

Well, I did not find this anywhere else so...

Finally,a calm goodbye to Gujarat from banks of Narmada, a place where once descended a great saint, Kabirdas

In remembrance of his holy highness, a few dohas to share

Let there be light 2

If its passion to Varsha (VB), to me Photography is pure fascination. Its just delighting to capture different moments. Each and every picture that I'll be contributing to this blog now or tomorrow will only be the ones that have fascinated me the most. There's every possibility it may seem dumb to you but it had that one figment which got the big smile on my face.

The Sunday Guardian competition indeed ignited the fire within. Here's my entry to the competition. Its not that classy to be out of the world but I'd rightly say, while clicking these I enjoyed the most :)

1.  Enlighten:

My dearest granny engrossed in current affairs while taking warmth from the sunlight reflecting through window, during one of the chilly winter days in Barmer, Rajasthan. I snapped this moment last year in Jan 2014.

2. Lighting up the necklace:

I snapped this from a point just opposite Oberoi, during a splendid evening with my friends in Mumbai at around 1 in the morning

3. Moon it up:

I really didn't understand why the hell on earth I submitted this picture as my entry. It was indeed very cold early morning on Prince Aga Khan Bridge. Hope you're not as dumb as I am and know this bridge is the one connecting Kalyani Nagar with Koregaon Park. :P
Moon was real big and shining, and I completely missed the rising Sun.

4. Chilly Warmth

6.15 AM. The temperature had dropped to about 3 degree. I was stranded on Luni junction waiting for a train from Jodhpur which could dump me to Barmer. At this hour, the only respite from killer wave was the warmth engulfing from this small flame, completely surrounded by the shivering zombies.

I believe time flies, but the only way we can capture it is through lens. Look back it. It may seem still but it indeed has the mystic aura to get the same original emotions out pouring into your heart...

Warm regards

Let there be light...

Photography is my passion and that's the prime reason why you are here :)

Recently, I participated in a competition organized by The Guardian with theme "Let there be light". I participated in this competition along with two very good friends of mine, Anooj & Pankaj.

Let me now slickly take you through My Entry to this competition

Sunny Splash: Friendship is life to me.This picture was taken @ Rock Garden, Malvan when I visited a small village Ramgadh just near Malvan to a dear Aaji's place. A splendid moment...

With: Dhiraj Gaikwad, Atul Parakhe (Somewhat seems to be), Sony Dilwal & Burman (aka Neeraj)

Crystal Setting: I took this from Tarkarli Creek just at the time when I was enjoying to my full playing water sports

Dark Light: I took this picture when I went for Raireshwar & Rohida Trek, when I reached the col between Raireshwar & Kenjalgadh.

Golden Edge: I took this picture from Kothrud Tekdi near my friend Ketaki's place. A wow moment set by the Sun. A twilight with a golden edge I would say.

Light your dream: A morning jog to shed some kilos and I bumped to this moment. Got my favourite cam out and snapped this player on the field...

This is part one of the blog.

In our next part, we will share the entry from Anooj with his captions. Hope you liked it. Catch you soon...
